ENGINEERING PROPERTIES

Seismic surveys give information to determine geotechnic properties of the subsurface in engineering planning. The acquisition of the data occurs through seismic surveys on surface (seismic refraction, Masw, Sasw, Remi and esac) and Down – Hole and Cross – Hole surveys, which permit the measurement of the speed of P and SH waves. Seismic speed can be combined with the density to calculate the Poison Ratio and elastic modulus like: shear modulus, Young modulus and bulk modulus. The dynamic parameters obtained represent an excellent support for the geotechnic planning and provide useful indications about the characteristics of (rippability).
